How to Adopt a Letter

Individual and representatives of organizations wanting to adopt a letter come to a participating Operation Santa Post Office in person. Both individual customers and organizational representatives fill out a brief form and show identification before viewing letters.

Organizations wanting to adopt a letter should send their representative with a note on company letterhead authorizing the representative to view letters. Your representative will be asked to show an employee ID and a valid state driver’s license or state-issued ID card.

Individuals who want to adopt a letter should bring a valid state driver’s license or state-issued ID card.

After completing the form, you may then read and choose a letter or letters. To protect the anonymity of the letter writers, all personal information will be blacked out in the letters you view — no last names, addresses or contact information will be visible.

After making your selection, just take the letters to a postal sales and service representative to note the postal tracking number on them. Then you’re ready for the fun part — you get to be Santa’s helper by fulfilling the wishes of the child who has written the letter.

After you’ve  finished shopping, you simply bring your wrapped gifts back to the same Operation Santa location, pay the postage and we’ll do the rest — matching your copy of the child’s letter with the original, before applying the child’s name and address and sending it on its way!

The return address on your package will, of course, read “Operation Santa, North Pole!”
