USPS Operation Santa Oakland California Correction

We received a very nice note last night from a lady named Laura in Oakland California letting us know that the Bay Valley District Post Office was not the correct location.

Hi, there–

Just wanted to let you know that the Post Office listed on your website for Bay Valley District in Oakland, California is now closed.  After several phone calls and dead-ends, I finally found out who in Oakland is handling Operation Secret Santa this year. Even folks at the USPS 800 phone number gave me the wrong number. Grrr.  Here’s who to contact:

Civic Center Post Office, 201 – 13th St., Consumer Affairs Office, Room 222, Oakland, CA 94612.

It would be nice if you could update your website and save others the headache I went through. :)

Thank you,

Laura (last name withheld)

Thanks to Laura we have corrected the information on the Operation Santa location list and added the correct telephone number which is 510-251-3127.

Thank you Miss Laura!

I have been trying my best to contact y’all but I do not know where to go but time you receive this email it will be to late. But me and my kids are in need of Santa help. Because all I can provide them with is food and a house to stay in. But it is such a disappointment when kids wake up to nothing. And they are great kids with A’s and B’s on they report card.

Santa Claus

Good morning. We received your note on Santa’s Blog and wanted to explain just how Operation Santa works. It is not a “program” that you can sign up for. It is 100% volunteer based and postal employees and kind-hearted American citizens go to participating USPS offices to read and respond to “Dear Santa” Letters from the neediest children each Christmas season. Here is a link to the 75 participating post office locations for 2011.

Your children can send their letters to “Dear Santa” care of your local post office and if your post office is participating this year, their letters will be read and hopefully some kind individual will respond. There is no guarantee however, as Santa gets so many letters each year and even though the volunteers do their best, there is not any possible way to answer all of the letters.

Have you looked into Toys for Tots, or other community Christmas services that may be available to you locally?

We wish you the best and please be sure to have your children mail their letters right away.
